Samsung Galaxy S8 latest news – price, release date, features and specs

Samsung Galaxy S8 latest news – price, release date, features and specs

Technology
The Samsung Galaxy S8 is simply gorgeous. Gone is the S7's flat screen, and in its place is a tall, narrow drink of water with two curved sides. Better even than the LG G6, which has similar proportions but no curved screen, and sleeker than the iPhone 7 Plus, which puts a smaller screen on taller, wider body. For the first time, every major Samsung phone is an "Edge" model, with the Edge and Note's curve-screen software and all. But elegant as it is in metal and glass, the S8 (and larger S8 Plus) is also the first marquee Samsung phone in a long time that leaves us with uneasy doubts. And those doubts have nothing to do with the disastrous Galaxy Note 7 and everything to do with a couple out-of-place choices and a work-in-progress digital assistant called Bixby. Good stuff f...

Govt plans major step against terrorism, to seal international boundaries with Pakistan, Bangladesh soon

National
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday said India is pondering over sealing the international boundaries with Pakistan and Bangladesh soon. Addressing the passing out parade of the Border Security Force Assistant Commandants at the BSF Academy in Tekanpur, Madhya Pradesh, Singh said: “India is planning to seal the international boundaries with Pakistan and Bangladesh as soon as possible. This could be India's major step against terrorism and the problem of refugees.” The minister added that the border with Pakistan would be sealed by 2018. The decision has been taken in the wake of an increase in infiltration attempts, said Singh. "The project will be periodically monitored by the Home Secretary at the Central level, the BSF from the security forces' perspective and the ...

UK condemns Pakistan’s move to declare Gilgit-Baltistan as its fifth province and says it belongs to India

UK
The British Parliament has passed a motion condemning Pakistan's move to declare Gilgit-Baltistan as its fifth frontier, saying the region is a legal and constitutional part of Jammu and Kashmir illegally occupied by Pakistan since 1947. The motion was tabled on March 23 and sponsored by Conservative Party leader Bob Blackman. It stated that Pakistan by making such an announcement is implying its attempt to annex the already disputed area. "Gilgit-Baltistan is a legal and constitutional part of the state of Jammu and Kashmir, India, which is illegally occupied by Pakistan since 1947, and where people are denied their fundamental rights including the right of freedom of expression," the motion read. It was further noted that the attempts to change the demography of the region was in v...

Finance Bill relaxes corporate funding to political parties, but is it really evil?

Finance Bill relaxes corporate funding to political parties, but is it really evil?

Economy, Opinion
The Lok Sabha approved a proposal by the government as part of amendments to the Finance Bill, 2017 that relaxes conditions for corporate funding to political parties. One of the major points of controversy surrounding the move is the confidentiality provided to corporate and removal of limit on funding as regards to proportion of profit previously limited at 7.5 per cent. On the face of it, the move seems to make the political funding system more opaque. However, diving deep, it actually makes sense to remove these restrictions as it allows accounted money from corporate to flow into the political system rather than unaccounted money that finds its way into the system dubiously filtered through multiple channels. The move may fare better on merit in comparison to the previous system in...

India gives a clear message – ‘Will reunite PoK, Gilgit-Baltistan with Jammu and Kashmir`

National
Minister of State (MoS) in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Jitendra Singh on Thursday reiterated that the government would free Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan from the illegal occupation of Pakistan. The Union minister added that the government’s objective was to restore Jammu and Kashmir in its original format, that includes Gilgit-Baltistan and PoK. Notably, today is Pakistan's Republic Day. Pakistan Day, or Republic Day, commemorates March 23, 1940, when a resolution was passed in Lahore, to demand a separate homeland for the Muslims. Earlier this month, a committee headed by Pakistan's foreign policy chief Sartaj Aziz had proposed to make Gilgit-Baltistan, the region north of the Line of Control in the Pakistan-administered Kashmir, fifth province. Adityanath will make UP Uttam Pradesh, says BJP

Uttar Pradesh
The choice of Adityanath as the next chief minister of Uttar Pradesh has drawn criticism from the opposition parties even as the BJP stood strongly behind its leader. The opposition parties hit out at Adityanath's image of Hindutva hardliner, with Congress leader Veerappa Moily calling his elevation as the "biggest assault" on secularism. "It is a big assault on secularism in the country. Maybe, the BJP or RSS would like to endorse their cause of Hinduism. India is not Hinduism. Hinduism is not India. "India is built above castes and religions and 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' (the world is one family) is the very foundation of our secular society. It is the biggest assault ever done on secularism," Moily said. The BJP leaders strongly defended Adityanath and said he will take the s...
