Good news is finally here! Rajkumar Hirani has confirmed that Munna Bhai 3 is in the pipeline

We all fell in love with ‘Munna Bhai MBBS’ when it first came out. It was a breath of fresh air among the slew of run-of-the-mill movies Bollywood produces.

And that’s why ‘Lage Raho Munna Bhai’ was a hit too. After this Sanjay Dutt was jailed and all Munnabhai fans were unsure if they would get to see the comic duo of Munna Bhai and Circuit ever again.

Well, the good news is finally here! Rajkumar Hirani has confirmed that Munna Bhai 3 is in the pipeline and both Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi will be reprising their roles.

Lage Raho was released in 2006 and after that Rajkumar Hirani played around with 5 different scripts for the third movie. But he did not want to spoil it for the audience.

“I COULD’VE TAKEN ANY OF THEM AND RELEASED ANOTHER FILM, KNOWING PEOPLE WOULD WATCH IT. BUT I DON’T WANT TO MAKE A MUNNA BHAI WHICH IS NOT AS GOOD, IF NOT BETTER, THAN THE PREVIOUS TWO.”

He wanted the third movie to be as good as the first two. He asked his scriptwriter Abhijat Joshi to write the script for the third movie only after Sanjay Dutt said yes to act in it.

He did start working on ‘Munna Bhai Chale America’ right after the success of Lage Raho… but that script did not see the light of day because the script did not fit in.

This is wonderful news for all the Munna Bhai fans out there.

Although one sad part of this is that this will be the last Munna Bhai film Rajkumar Hirani will be directing.

After this, someone else will take the franchise forward.
