Bollywood star Akshay Kumar had recently donated Rs 9 lakh each to the families of the 12 CRPF personnel who were killed in a recent Naxal ambush in Chhattisgarh.

On Saturday his suggestion to give back to security forces killed in line of duty received government approval, reported India Today.

The Bharat Ke Veer app, which was first proposed by the actor, through which people can extend financial support to the families of the killed soldiers has been approved, the channel reported.

Ahead of Republic Day, the 49-year-old actor had posted a video on Twitter, suggesting the creation of a website or a mobile app that connects people directly to the families of the killed jawans in order to help them financially.

The new mobile app will allow people to transfer a maximum of Rs 15 lakh as a donation to the verified account of the next of kin of those killed in the line of duty.
