USA
New York, United States:  President-elect Donald Trump and China's billionaire founder of e-commerce giant Alibaba held "great" talks in New York on Monday focused on creating US jobs and enabling trade with Asia. The incoming Republican president, who will be sworn in as commander-in-chief in less than two weeks' time having never previously held elected office, has made job creation a key promise of his incoming administration. His team said the meeting between the 70-year-old real estate tycoon and China' richest man was focused on how Alibaba can create one million US jobs by enabling one million US small businesses to sell goods into China and Asia. "We had a great meeting," Trump told reporters afterward in accompanying Ma back down to the lobby of his Trump Tower headquarte...

Apple uses a global and fairly complex supply chain. The parts for the iPhone, iPad, iPod and Mac are manufactured, mostly by third parties, across 28 countries. China Indicates at questioning India’s Agni-V launch at UN Security Council

International
Beijing: China on Tuesday hoped that India's testing of the nuclear-capable Agni-5 intercontinental ballistic missile complied with UN Security Council rules and safeguarded South Asia's strategic balance even as Beijing maintained that the two nations are "not rivals but partners". Taking exception to reports that the successful test of Agni-V was meant to target China, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said, "On your question on India test firing the Agni-5 ballistic missile, we have noted relevant reports", to a question at a media briefing in Beijing. "On whether India can develop this ballistic missile that can carry nuclear weapons, I think relevant resolutions of the UNSC have clear rules," she said without elaborating. "We have always believed that saf...

India today successfully test-fired its nuclear-capable, inter-continental ballistic missile Agni 5, that has a range of over 5,000 km covering whole of China, from Abdul Kalam island off Odisha coast. Defence sources said that the successful test-firing today will pave the way for user trial of the most potent Indian missile and its eventual induction into the strategic forces command (SFC). The three-stage, solid propellant surface-to-surface missile was test-fired from a mobile launcher from launch complex-4 of the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at about 1105 hours, DRDO sources said. About 17-metre long and weighing over 50 ton, the surface-to-surface missile majestically rose from the confines of its canister flawlessly and achieved all targets, sources in Defence Research a...

It is the right time for Uttar Pradesh’s division into smaller states

Opinion, Uttar Pradesh
Fertile land, productive terrain, natural water resources, large consumer base, political clout, rich culture, and an authoritative presence, in books of history- Uttar Pradesh (UP) has everything, that an administrative unit needs, to write its growth story. And yet, it continues to fall short of its development potential. If it were a separate country, UP would be the fifth most populous in the world. And yet, nowhere have the dividends from our demography been as low, as in UP. This points to a fundamental flaw in the state’s governance architecture. Low economic development, and disappointing social indicators According to the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, the per-capita Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) of UP, is the second lowest, among all states and Uni...
