The newly amended citizenship act (CAA) has aroused fear among Indian citizens that it will deny citizenship to the existing Muslim minority communities in India. However, if one to dive deep into details of this act then it is clear, that it only aims to provide Indian citizenship to religiously persecuted minorities of our neighboring countries i.e. Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, provided they entered India before December 31, 2014. CBI starts probing 18 land deals, of Robert Vadra firm’s

The CBI today began its probe into 18 cases referred to it by the Rajasthan government for alleged irregularities in land deals in Bikaner by companies, linked to Robert Vadra. CBI sources said the agency has re-registered 18 FIRs in connection with these land deals, which were earlier probed by the Rajasthan Police. “The cases pertain to fraudulent and fictitious claims and allotments in lieu of land acquired for Mahajan Field Firing Range Bikaner, which is used by the Army,” a CBI spokesperson said here after the cases were registered this evening. Among the 18 FIRs registered by the agency, 16 were lodged at the Gajner police station while two at Kolayat police station in Bikaner between August and September, 2014, agency sources said. The Army was deployed in the restive Darjeeling town today after Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) supporters indulged in violence and arson while attempting to march to the venue of a cabinet meeting presided by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee here. The troops were brought in after the protesters damaged police vehicles and set some of them ablaze, prompting the police to fire teargas and lathicharge the violent GJM supporters who are opposing “imposition” of Bengali language in schools in the hills. After Supreme Court's ban on Liquor shops along the highways, the state government is mulling the denotifying of even existing highways. The bar owners, wine merchants in the states have decided to demand denotification of highways as Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Chandigarh did, hoping to reduce the impact. A closed liquor shop as the Supreme Court order to ban liquor vends located within 500 meters of Punjab's National and State Highways from April 1 in Amritsar.
